What is Gate Exam?

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination for admission into M Tech courses. This test gauges the student’s in-depth understanding of undergraduate subjects in Engineering Technology. GATE is jointly organized by the Indian Institute of Science and the seven IITs (namely, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee) on the behalf of National Coordination Board – GATE, Department of Higher Education, and Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

GATE Electronics & Communication Engineering

Electronics and communication engineering is an engineering discipline where non-linear and active electrical components – electron tubes, semiconductor devices, transistors, diodes and integrated circuits, are utilized to design electronic circuits, devices and systems.
The term denotes a broad engineering field that covers important subfields such as analog electronics, digital electronics, consumer electronics, embedded systems and power electronics.
Electronics and communication engineering deals with implementation of applications, principles and algorithms developed within many related fields such as solid-state physics, radio engineering, telecommunications, control systems, signal processing, systems engineering, computer engineering, instrumentation engineering, electric power control, robotics, to name a few. Communication here involves analog communication systems, amplitude and angle modulation and demodulation systems, spectral analysis of these operations, superheterodyne noise conditions; and digital communication systems includes pulse code modulation (PCM), Differential Pulse Code Modulation (DPCM), Delta modulation (DM), digital modulation schemes-amplitude, phase and frequency shift keying schemes (ASK, PSK, FSK), matched filter receivers, bandwidth consideration and probability of error calculations for these schemes, GSM, TDMA.

To be able to deal with competitors across the country, you must prepare well. There are several gate exam books available in the market which can give you a fair idea about your state of preparedness.
